Ali Awais is a corporate, banking, and finance lawyer with over 25 years of international experience. He has practised with leading law firms including Milbank, Baker Botts, Jones Day, and Diaz Reus, and served as Senior Counsel at the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
His practice focuses on corporate and financial transactions, Islamic finance, M&A, project and infrastructure finance, and cross-border investments. He advises financial institutions, private equity firms, multinational corporations, and project sponsors on complex transactions, as well as CEOs and boards on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, investment strategy, and risk management.
Ali has extensive experience in infrastructure and project finance, including transactions involving energy, transport, water, and other large-scale infrastructure projects. He also previously served as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of a Dubai-based investment banking firm, where he led financial structuring, governance, and regulatory compliance for cross-border investments.
In addition to his legal practice, Ali is a visiting faculty member at LUMS Law School, where he teaches Public-Private Partnerships and Project Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Company Law. He is committed to practical legal education and mentoring the next generation of lawyers.
