Bangladesh High Commissioner Visits LUMS to Explore Academic Collaboration
Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Pakistan Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, ndc, visited LUMS to engage with senior leadership and faculty and explore opportunities for strengthening academic ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
During the visit, LUMS faculty shared the University’s work across education, science and technology, energy, artificial intelligence, digital learning, and healthcare, highlighting areas with potential for collaboration with Bangladeshi institutions. Discussions included LUMS' regional learning initiatives, AI and digital health capacity-building, applied research, and the University’s work in renewable energy.
Welcoming the opportunity to engage with LUMS, High Commissioner Khan emphasised the importance of strengthening educational and institutional links between the two countries. He noted that there is significant scope for cooperation, particularly in science, technology, and higher education, and expressed his interest in developing partnerships between LUMS and universities in Bangladesh.
The High Commissioner also encouraged LUMS to explore institutional partnerships with Bangladeshi universities and proposed opportunities for scholarships for Bangladeshi students at LUMS. He noted that greater student mobility could help create stronger connections between the academic communities of the two countries.
The visit marked a constructive step towards expanding academic exchange between Pakistan and Bangladesh, with potential avenues for collaboration spanning higher education, research, science and technology, digital learning, healthcare, and student engagement.
